So, you’re gearing up for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass? Good call. Every October, Golden Gate Park fills up with music, food, and about half the Bay Area spreading blankets on the grass. This year it’s October 3–5, 2025. And yes, it’s still free. That’s right: three full days of legends and rising stars, no ticket needed. Pretty sweet.
Now, before you head into the San Francisco traffic jungle, do yourself a favor: make VRC your pit-stop. We’re right off Highway 80 in Vallejo, easy in, easy out, and we’ll make sure you roll into the city stocked and smiling.

Festival gates open 11 am Friday and 9 am Saturday and Sunday, music goes till 7:30 pm each night (Hardly Strictly Bluegrass). Translation: leave yourself time for that pit-stop and still snag a good spot on the lawn.
Pro Tips for Surviving Hardly Strictly
- Blanket = lifesaver. You’ll thank yourself when you’re not sitting directly on the grass.
- Layers are your best friend. Morning sun, afternoon fog, random chilly winds… San Francisco does costume changes too.
- Hydrate. Seriously. Between the music, walking, and vibes, you’ll need it.
- Go early. This festival is massive, and the best spots get claimed fast.
